I filled my Pattern 89 into my 2 inch by 2 inch file. Next, I filled in the purple part (Paint Bucket Tool with 'Contiguous' unchecked) with my Pattern 11. I then 'cleaned up' the black areas using the Paint Brush tool the same as I did in my last pattern. I changed the red to an orange before saving the completed pattern as you see below. My second image shows the pattern repeat. I'm liking these combined patterns as well, if not better than either of the two original patterns by themselves.
