The last piece we created for the color
class was about simultaneous contrast. This
concept is achieved when you use two high intensity complementary colors next
to each other so that they appear to vibrate.
For this piece I used a combination of my kaleidoscope program and
Photoshop Elements. I first created simple
black line kaleidoscopes that I opened in PSE and used the paint bucket tool to
fill in the complementary colors. I
repeated the design four times and printed each one to a separate fabric
sheet. I then stitched the four sheets
together and free motion stitched the entire piece.
