I'm going to switch gears now a little. I have already talked a bit about half drop patterns and gave you instructions for creating one with a simple dot (Pattern #24 from February 3rd). I am now going to do a series of half drop patterns with different motifs. This first one started with one of my kaleidoscope patterns (Pattern #6 from January 14th).
I opened the image file from the kaleidoscope, and using the Eraser tool I removed the outer design leaving only the center motif. I then used the Magic Wand tool to select all of the white parts (Contiguous unselected in the Options bar), and deleted them. The center motif was still centered in the square. Using the instructions I listed for Pattern #24, I copied and split the motif to create the arrangement within the square that would repeat as a half drop pattern. It looks as you see it below. I selected all and saved the pattern.
